DragonLair Farm and Kennel in Central Maine with Nubians, Lamanchas and Oberhasli. Of course, combinations of 2 or more breeds happens also.

good information Deb...thanks for posting it.

Lots of the dosage amounts I had already been using.  I switched wormers with each worming, so we never got the worm resistance on our farms.  I do know that the best wormer on the market for goats is the Cydectin Sheep drench.  At least down here in the southern states (Arkansas included) it is.  Our Vets have always told us to dose Safeguard and Panacur at 1cc per 10lbs of body weight where the directions says 1cc per 100lbs of body weight.

Can someone please remind me of the dose of Ivermectin to use along with the Safeguard?  I have very careful notes about 1 cc/10 lbs for the Safeguard, but can't for the life of me find the Ivomec dose.  And it's one Ivomec, then five Safeguards, then in ten days one more Ivomec and one more Safeguard???  Although this time I may give the Safeguard every 12 hours x 5 doses and the Ivomec once and then in ten days one moire dose of each?  This is a slightly different regimen for me, but if the 12 hours works better than the 24 hours, I'm more than willing to try it.

Thanks,

Pat

Ivomec is dosed 1cc per 50lbs repeated in 10 to 14 days depending on the worm load.

Safeguard is dosed 1cc per 10lbs repeated once daily for 5 doses.

I don't do the safeguard until the two doses of Ivomec are completed.

Are you having a worm overload issue?  If so, can you get a fecal ran to find out which wormer is needed to kill the specific worms you are dealing with?  Such as Cydectin is the only wormer that will kill the barber pole worm.  Ivomec is a broad spectrum wormer, but it's not much good on the barber pole worm.
