Can someone explain to me what 'roving' is?  What is the process of making it? How hard is it to do yourself?

I really did try to look this up but all I did was confuse myself even more  Roll Eyes

I went ahead and bought a couple of ounces in the combo packs, but now I want to know how to do it myself, from scratch of course  Wink

roving is ready to spin looks kind of like a long rope of fiber, i think you have to have a special machine to do it with .  for doing it yourself probably a drum carder is the best bet also called a barrel carder sometimes. that makes bats but it spins nice if you comb enough.
